2. Your rental application must have a section for them to sign off, stating it is okay for you to run a background check on the individual. Luckily, FidelisAM’s tenant application form contains this.

3. A prospective renter is not legally required to fill in their date of birth. In order to combat this, ask for a copy of their driver’s license. Be cautious if you decide to rent to someone who is unwilling to provide proof of identification.

4. Make sure your applicant fills out his/her previous landlord/employer’s information on the rental application. Contact them and see what kind of tenant your applicant was and to verify that they actually work at that particular place of employment.
